Minutes - 9 February 2016
Webster Conservation Commission

9 February 2016

Present:  Mary Jo MacGowan (presiding), Sally Embley, Susan Roman. Linda Clark, Nancy Van Loan, and Bob Quinn (alternate).

Agenda Item

Summary

1.     Appoint Secretary and alternates, if needed.

Bob Quinn volunteered to take minutes. The meeting was called to order at 7:36 pm.

2.     Minutes from December and January.

Nancy moved and Linda seconded acceptance of the December minutes. Approved unanimously.  The January meeting was cancelled due to bad weather so there are no minutes for January.

3.     Correspondence

None.

4.     Winter and Spring Outing

There are no current plans for winter due to the lack of winter snow! We discussed having a WCC herp watch in April 2016. In general it would be on the first rainy night in April. An invitation will be put in the Grapevine to contact MJ to pre-register for this free event.

5.     Bobcat conservation

A number of members attended the recent Fish and Game hearing. There was some general discussion about the hearing and speakers. There is still time to send comments to NH Fish and Game via email. Some of the discussion involved how NH F&G is funded and how to voice our thoughts to the NHACC about that issue.

6.     Conservation Fund and the “Sugar Maple Fund”.

$3000.00 came in from Current Use change fees during 2015 so the total of our Conservation Fund is $14,675.00.     There was also discussion about a “Maple Tree Fund” that apparently exists for maintaining the Sugar Maples along Tyler Road (near the Janeway’s house). Betsy was to see what she could find out about this Fund and the its specific purposes.

7.     Easement monitoring

Mock and Phelps II were monitored by MJ and Bob MacGowan. Many thanks to Betsy, Linda, Susan, MJ, and Bob MacGowan.

8.     New Business

Sally mentioned that the roadside clean-up will be Saturday, April 30, 2016. The consensus was to again give flowers to the participants.

A hearing/public meeting about the next steps in the State designation process (at the watershed level) for protection and management of the Warner River will be held on March 16, 2015 at the Warner Town Hall at 7:00 P.M.  This is part of the Warner River - New Hampshire Rivers Management and Protection Program (RMPP)

Meeting was adjourned at 8:35 PM.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Robert A. Quinn
